Upon pulsed irradiation, long-lived, highly mobile charge carriers have been found in columnar stacks of thermotropic liquid-crystalline monomer octakis(dodecyloxy)phthalocyanine, Pc12, and polymeric octakis(octyloxy)phthalocyanine, [Si(Pc8)O] n .
