In order to develop a dynamic ship traffic information service system for Green Yangtze River,this paper proposes and discusses the key approaches and technologies required in the areas of data collection,data transmission,data analysis and decision-making support based on the characteristics of shipping traffic in Yangtze River.An outlook to the future development of "Green Yangtze River" is also provided at the end of the paper.
