HIS KEPOKT is based on material gained from the analysis of a boy, Danny. I should like to present a series of his dreams, T together with suficient background material historically, as well as from the analytic work then current, to highlight certain relationships between his ego and his dreaming. In limiting myself to this theme, it was inevitable that important and extensive material had to be excluded and many points of interest could not he raised. Danny is at present still in analysis. He started his treatment almost four and a half years ago, at the age of four. Although he is now over eight years old, he has only recently shown signs of cntering the latency period. He was referred at the age of three and a half years to the Child Psychiatry Outpatient Department of University Hospitals. After the diagnostic studies revealed that he suffered neither from mental deficiency nor from demonstrable neurological damage, he was accepted for observation and treatment into University Hospitals Nursery School, under the direction of Dr. A. Kacan. Danny was rather tall but very thin. The attractive coloring of his blond hair and blue eyes was offset by his pale complexion, by distorting facial grimaces, and by his rigid, ill-coordinated
