Polypropylene (PP) oligomer was prepared by combination of photodegradation with a TiO2/polyethylene oxide and methyl linoleate (ML) graft-polymerization. The gel permeation chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance measurements showed that it was an oligomer compound composed of PP main chain and ML oligomer side one. A compatibilizer performance of the PP oligomer was studied using a PP/microfibrous cellulose (MFC) composite. The effects of the loading on the morphology and tensile properties of PP/MFC composite were investigated as compared with those of the maleated PP (MAPP) loading. The PP oligomer loading brought about good dispersity of the MFC in the PP matrix. Young’s modulus value of 0.75 % PP oligomer loading composite was increased to 300 % as compared with that without the loading. The dispersity and modulus increment rate were superior to the MAPP loading. The excellent compatibilizer performance was due to good miscibility with the PP matrix.
