Abstract Incorporation of trifluoromethyl group into aromatic compounds is of great importance in the medicinal, agricultural, and material sciences. Owing to the mild reaction conditions and wide substrates scope, transition metal-catalyzed trifluoromethylation of arene substrates has attracted significant attention in the past few years. Herein, the recent progress in transition metal-catalyzed trifluoromethylation of arene substrates is surveyed and summarized.
