1. Introduction. In this paper, we shall consider the question of con-vergence for cyclic Jacobi methods. In 2, we show that certain different cyclic orderings produce exactly the same result ina certain sense. In 3, we discussthe question of whether a Jacobi method produces convergence for an arbitrary cyclic ordering. In 4, we argue that certain cyclic orderings will result in higher rte of convergence thn others nd experimental evidence is presented to support this rgument. To conserve spce, it will be ssumed the reder is fmilir with Jcobi methods so that the number of definitions nd explanations cn be minimized. Readers not familiar with these methods should consult one of the references (except [6]) listed at the end of this pper. Again to conserve spce, direct reference will be mde to equations in [7]. An equation number mrked with n steriskrefers to n equation of [7].
