A description is given of a number of examples of incompletely specified models requiring new inference procedures. Recommendations and illustrative examples are given for certain analysis of variance procedures for incompletely specified models involving the use of preliminary test (s) of significance. In the main these recommendations will be based on theoretical and methodological results already published by the author and others elsewhere.
