Numerical simulation of sound wave propagation with sound absorption in the time domain is discussed in this paper. To implement the sound absorption effect with a complex frequency dependence in the time domain such as relaxation absorption in air, a convolver using a finite impulse response (FIR) digital filter is embedded in an element of the digital Huygens' model (DHM) or the transmission line matrix modeling (TLM). Some numerical demonstrations are made for one-dimensional sound propagation in air comparing with the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method.
