An Sb-based nanostructured composite with embedded TiO2was prepared from Sb2O3, Ti, and carbon powders using a mechanochemical reduction method and was evaluated as an anode material in rechargeable Li-ion batteries. X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy analyses reveal that the Sb/TiO2/C nanocomposite is composed of nanocrystalline Sb, rutile-TiO2, and amorphous carbon. Electrochemical tests show that the electrochemical performance of the Sb/TiO2/C nanocomposite electrode is superior to that of the pure Sb electrode.
