T HE body of literature on Hodgkin disease, a primary malignant tumor of the lymphatic system, is extensive. This disease has received particular attention over the past several decades because of the remarkable improvement in prognosis, based on innovative and aggressive treatment as well as improved pathologic classification and anatomic staging methodology(1, 2). This invited review presents a concise summary of the current knowledge of Hodgkin disease, with emphasis on those aspects that might influence diagnostic imaging and should be useful to the diagnostic radiologist. It is hoped that knowledge of the following information will enable the diagnostic radiologist to communicate better with the radiation therapist and medical oncologist and thus enhance patient care.
