2. Materials and methods Tetrahymena pyriformis strain GL-C was grown at 28 C in proteose-peptoneliver extract as described previously (Oleinick et al. 1974). Exponentially growing cultures which had been labelled overnight with 3 H-thymidine (0. 5-1. 0µCi/ml; 47 Ci/mmole; ICN) were used.
