A data set consisting of the locations of "light-on" on "light-off" displaced amacrine cells in the retina of a rabbit is analysed uisng recently developed statistical methodology. The results are used to discriminate between two biological hypotheses concerning the species of the data. Some general comments are made on the statistical analysis of spatial point patterns.
