Dominance relationships were determined for nearly a third of the possible combinations between 28 S alleles from marrow-stem and thousand-head kales (Brassica oleraceavar.acephala). In pollen and stigma independent action is more common than dominance in 5 allele heterozygotes, but dominance occurs more frequently in pollen than in the stigma. The relative frequency of dominance and the occurrence of nonlinear dominance in the pollen and more frequently in the stigma are in accordance with expectation based on Sampson's hypothesis of gene interaction at the 5 locus.
