Multimodal imaging with NIR light is of great interest in medical research as its feasibility in combining with various techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), X-ray computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET), single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), ultrasound (US), and photoacoustic (PA) imaging. This chapter gives an overview and backgrounds of diverse contrast agents for NIR mulimodal imaging associated with MRI, CT, PET/SPECT, and PA as a primal modality. It highlights potential applications in therapeutic practice using NIR light.
