This is a case of a 31-year-old man who presented with persistent pain of the left knee and was found to have avascular necrosis at multiple sites. Plain film roentgenograms with tomography, bone scanning and magnetic resonance imaging were utilized in the diagnostic work-up. The history of treatment with steroids eight years previously was elicited only after the diagnosis was made radiographically and pathologically. (orig./GDG).
