The rare neuropteran family Rapismatidae, known only from the highlands of India and Nepal, southeast Asia and Indonesia, is reviewed and the affinities of the family discussed. Nine species are recognized, of which 7 are described as new [Rapisma nepalensis, R. almoranum, R. corundum, R. tamilanum, R. malayanum, R. intanonum and R. sabahnum ]: 2 new synonymies are established [R. viridipenne (Walker, 1853) = R. magna Esben.sbd.Petersen, 1915 syn. nov. and R. burmanum Navas, 1929 = R. weelei Navas, 1929 syn. nov.].
