Approach for Computation of Structural Parameters and Visual Research of Canopy in Summer Corn

Based on the Geometric Approach, Parametric Approach and the Direct Approach, the digital imaging approach is established to evaluate LAI and LAD with the fieldwork data and the digital imaging data. The approach is verified by the data for the structural parameter of summer corn obtained in the biota zone in Beijing Normal University (BNU) and Luangcheng Ecologic Experiment Station (LEES, CAS). Compared with the classic approaches, this approach can be used to implement continuous observation on corn and synchronous evaluation of LAI and LAD, which improves the efficiency of computation of LAI and LAD and decreases the amount of the fieldwork. At the same time, visual research on the canopy of summer corn is carried out by application of the structural parameters attained.
