The potential for cross-reaction betweenCryptococcus neoformansandHistoplasma capsulatumin antigen assays was evaluated. We tested patient samples, spleens from infected mice, and purified polysaccharides in the MVistaHistoplasmaantigen enzyme immunoassay and cryptococcal antigen latex agglutination system for cross-reactivity, and none was observed.
