Background & AimsSerum Golgi protein 73 (GP73) is a potential biomarker for fibrosis assessment. We aimed to develop an algorithm based on GP73 and liver stiffness (LS) for further improvement of accuracy for significant fibrosis in patients with antiviral-naive chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection.MethodsDiagnostic accuracy evaluation of GP73 and development of GP73-LS algorithm was performed in training cohort (n=267) with an independent cohort (n=133) for validation.ResultsA stepwise increasing pattern of serum GP73 was observed across fibrosis stages in patients with antiviral-naive chronic HBV infection.
