The squirrel monkey platform runway test, which measures the degree and direction of bodily dysequilibrium in an ordinary walk without being affected by physical training, is described. Since the task procedure resembles the clinical balance test situation, the results obtained by this test can be more reasonably compared with the clinical data. Representative post-labyrinthec-tomy cases exhibited some oscillating directional change of bodily dysequilibrium which was previously observed by the squirrel monkey rail test.
