High field X-ray powder diffraction and magnetization measurements were carried out for MnFeP0.78Ge0.22in order to investigate the magnetic field effect on the structural property. A field-induced anisotropic lattice deformation was observed, accompanied by the metamagnetic transition from the paramagnetic to the ferromagnetic states in the vicinity of the Curie temperature of 285 K. In this deformation at 280 K, the lattice parameteraexpands by 1.2 % whereas the parameterccontracts by 2.7 %.
