Eight polyoxypregnane glycosides, marsdenosides A-H, were isolated from the CHCl3-soluble fraction of the ethanolic extract of the stem of Marsdenia tenacissima, along with six known glycosides and two known polyoxypregnane aglycones. Three polyoxy-pregnanes, 12 beta-O-2-methylbutyryl-tenacigenin A, 11 alpha,12 beta-di-O-acetyltenacigenin B, and 11 alpha-O-tigloyltenacigenin B were also obtained. Their structures were established on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and chemical evidence. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
