The traditional description of the physico-chemical properties of metal complexes in solutions is based on a model which takes into account interactions of two types:(i) specific chemical interaction between the metal atom (ion) and the ligands of the first (inner) coordination sphere, and (ii) non-specific interaction of the inner-sphere metal complex with the medium as a dielectric continuum.
