I. " A modified method has been described for performing immunodiffusion tests as a screening procedure for detecting specimens which would be positive in the complement fixation test for coccidioidomycosis. This new method is simpler to perform and yields results earlier, with 69 per cent of the ultimate number of positive reactors being detected within one day." In comparative tests with the original method and with complement fixation results, the new test was at least as accurate as the original and seemed to be somewhat more sensitive. In a collaborative study with 4 other laboratories, the results were highly reproducible." The new immunodiffusion test is readily acceptable into the routine work schedule of the clinical laboratory. Adoption of this procedure would make preliminary results available at the local laboratory level much earlier than has been possible in the past because of the necessity of mailing specimens to special laboratories.".
