RESULTSSex and age distributions.—There were 46 males and 38 females in the 84 selected patients.To estimate the age distribution of patients with SSWC, we recorded the age of the patient at the time at least one EEG containing SSWC had been done. When two or more recordings had been obtained on a patient at a certain age, this was counted as one. The age at peak incidence was 4_years; a second, smaller peak corresponded to age 12 years (fig. 2). On condensation in five-year groups, the highest incidence was in the first group (fig. 3).
