The formation, structure, properties, and characterization of metallic glasses produced from the liquid state by casting or water cooling are reviewed in the present chapter. The structure, general physical, thermal, mechanical, and magnetic properties of these materials are also discussed. Crystallization of bulk glassy alloys leads to the formation of the composites containing crystalline or quasicrystalline particles. Some of these composites possess a better combination of mechanical properties than those of fully glassy or fully crystalline alloys. For example, crystalline phases play a very important role in ductilization of bulk glassy alloys. Nanostructured ferromagnetic alloys and glassy‐nanocrystal composites possess good soft magnetic properties.
