Synopsis The rheological properties of a range of cement grouts have been measured. High shear mixing has resulted in reversible and reproducible flow curves when the grout is tested in a concentric cylinder viscometer. Bingham constants have been calculated from these flow curves. The effects of water/cement ratio, plasticizers, temperature and mixing with fresh and seawater on the rheological properties of ordinary Portland, oilwell B and high alumina cement grouts have been quantified. The prediction of pumping pressures from these properties is discussed.
