The time-resolved velocity and concentration fields of an inclined jet in crossflow (JICF) were measured simultaneously using PIV (particle image velocimetry) and PLIF (planar laser-induced fluorescence) techniques. Five jet-to-crossflow velocity ratios were studied and compared (VR = 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2). Based on the measurement results, average and turbulent features of flow and concentration fields at various VRs were compared respectively. Moreover, the spatio-temporal characteristics of concentration and vorticity fields were vividly shown in this paper. The turbulent scalar flux terms, the strain, and scalar dissipation were analyzed and compared between different VRs. And through POD (proper orthogonal decomposition) analysis, the modal structures were extracted and the flow-concentration dynamics were further illustrated. In conclusion, the flow and mixing characteristics show different patterns at various VRs, but a positive correlation always exists between the vertical velocity and the concentration in the upstream shear layer.
