Based on morphological and molecular analyses of aPetrochromisfish (Cichlidae) from the southern end of Lake Tanganyika, this fish is considered a taxonomic species distinct from the six known congeners. A new scientific name is proposed for this fish. A key to the sevenPetrochromisspecies is included.
