The authors discuss some disadvantages and errors of radiocarbon dating as seen from the point of view of the analyst, the archaeologist and the museologist. This is followed by the results from carbon-14 analyses made on various bone materials both human and animal, excavated from different archaeological sites in Sweden. The article suggests that collagen dating offers the archaeologist an elegant and versatile tool which is likely to find wide application. -- AATA
