Oxygenated complexes of the ferrous cytochrome P450 from Pseudomonas putida, with or without substrate, undergo autoxidation. The spontaneous decay rates are 1st order, decreased by the presence of substrate, and markedly retarded in fluid mixed solvents at sub-zero temperatures. Thus stabilized, both complexes may be used as pure starting reagents.
