Large-area organic crystalline films were prepared by electrostatic spray deposition of small molecule/polymer blend solutions prepared with environmentally-friendly solvents such as n-butyl acetate. 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl) pentacene was used as a small molecule semiconductor, and poly(methyl methacrylate) as a polymer insulator. Due to rapid phase-separation in the blend film prepared by using the non-aromatic and halogen-free solvents, organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) with the well-defined interface exhibited superior charge-carrier transport properties. This study will contribute to green manufacturing of high-performance OFETs by a facile one-step printing process.
