Martinez abstract: The rotatory contributions of a protein can be represented by X=//+ ß ß+/rXr, where X can be either the ellipticity or the rotation at anywavelength. The The f’s are the fractions of the helix (), ß form and unordered form (R); the sum of f’s is equal to unity and each/is greater than or equal to zero. With the/values of five proteins obtained by X-raydiffraction studies, the Y’s of these proteins at anywavelength are fitted by a least-squares method, which defines the Xu, ß, and Xr. The circular dichroism and opti-cal rotatory dispersion for the helix, ß, and unordered form thus determined can be conversely used to estimate the sec-
