On further investigation of a methanol extract of Linaria japonica, five new compounds were isolated. Three of them were ionol glucosides, named linarionosides A-C, and the structures of the remaining compounds were elucidated to be 6,7-dihydrofoliamenthoic acid diglucoside [(E)-(R)-2,6-dimethyl-8-hydroxyoct-2-enoic acid beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester 8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside] and 10-hydroxygeraniol diglucoside [(E, E)-2,6-dimethyl-1,8-dihydroxyocta-2,7-diene 1,8-O-beta-D-diglucopyranoside]. Their structures were determined on the basis of the results of spectroscopic analyses and chemical conversions.
