The 2013 update of the Acute Inpatient Stroke Care Chapter of the Canadian Best Practice Recommendations for Stroke Care reinforces the growing and changing research evidence available to guide assessment, diagnosis, interventions and management of stroke patients following hospital admission. Underpinnings of acute inpatient care are to optimize recovery and outcomes. A coordinated and seamless system of stroke care to ensure timely access to diagnostics and interventions, consults and to a range of rehabilitation therapies should be established. Evidence shows that acute stroke patients cared for on dedicated stroke units have better outcomes, less disability and lower mortality. This WEBINAR will present these evidence-based guidelines for acute inpatient stroke care.
