The article focuses on a need of standardized definitions for clinical studies of Pneumocystis. There is a need for a universal term to denote the presence of Pneumocystis in a respiratory specimen or lung tissue in the absence of overt pneumonia. Several terms have been applied to this scenario such as" colonization,"" carriage,"" sub-clinical infection" and" asymptomatic indolent infection." A clear need for a consensus statement will facilitate future collaborative research on Pneumocystis.
