Genome mining reveals a new ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptide (RiPP) fromKlebsiella pneumoniae. This new antibiotic inhibits bacterial ribosomes by obstructing the peptide exit tunnel, and its modular nature presents a unique opportunity for future engineering of antibacterial drugs.
