Using a compilation of available geophysical cruises and new free-air anomaly gravimetric grids computed from altimetric data, we propose a new synthesis for the structure and evolution of the oceanic crust in the Tuamotu Region, located between 0 and 30°S and between 200 and 240°E. Segmentation of the oceanic crust is then better understood: Marquesas Fracture Zone is formed by two segments between 225 and 230°E; no clear signature of the Austral Fracture Zone is observed to the east of 222°E; the Tuamotu spreading segment is, in fact, formed by two segments right-laterally offset by about 150 km. Half-spreading rates progressively increase from 23 km/Ma 82 Ma ago to 109 km/Ma 28 Ma ago.
