Northern blot analysis has identified procolipase mRNA in rat pancreas, stomach and duodenum. Pancreatic colipase mRNA was increased by high-fat diets. Adrenalectomy increased pancreatic procolipase mRNA, an effect enhanced by high-fat diets. The results suggest that colipase is not unique to the pancreas and that diet and glucocorticoids interact in regulating the transcription of its gene. Images
