ケガニ幼生の適正飼育水温を明らかにする目的で，ふ化幼生を 2 L ビーカーに収容し，水温 6～21℃（3℃ 間隔）で飼育した。生残率は 6～15℃ で高値を示し，21℃ では第 3 齢から第 4 齢にかけて，18℃ ではメガロパへの変態期から第 1 齢稚ガニにかけて大量に減耗した。各齢期までの所要日数は 15℃ まで水温の上昇にともない減少し，第 1 齢稚ガニまでの所要日数の変動係数は 15℃ 以上で大きかった。また，頭胸甲長は水温が低いほど大きく，摂餌数は 9～15℃ で多かった。以上のことから，適正飼育水温は 9～12℃ と結論付けた。
