ObjectiveThe purpose of this longitudinal project is to test the hypothesis that perceived triangular relationships in adolescence, especially those characterized by a perception of positivity toward the parent of the opposite sex and negativity toward the parent of the same sex, predict more symptoms of adult depression and anxiety. These triangular relationship patterns could be reflective of unresolved internal oedipal conflicts.
