A thermodynamic evaluation of the Cr-Mn-N system has been performed. Previous descriptions Of the binary Cr-Mn, Cr-N and Mn-N systems were used. The M2N, MN and M4N nitrides and the liquid phase were treated. Isothermal sections in the temperature range 1023-1473 K are presented as well as the solubility of N in liquid Cr-Mn alloys at 1 atm N2. Calculations are compared with experimental data, and the agreement is good.
