Is modus ponens for the indicative conditional valid? McGee [1985] famously presents several alleged ‘counterexamples’ to this rule of inference. More recently, Kolodny and MacFarlane [2010] and Willer [2010] argue that this rule is unreliable in some hypothetical contexts. But none of these attacks undermine an informational conception of logic on which modus ponens is valid.
