Stevens shows mortality rates within the World Health Organization's newly proposed body mass index categories using data from a large cohort of people in the United States between the ages of 30 and 70 years. Those mortality rates are compared according to the WHO BMI cutoff points and to those of the second National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES II).
