METHODSSubjects. Male albino rats weighing 200-280 g were used. They were caged individually and had free access to food and water.Inz $ ants. Double-walled cannulas were implanted in all animals. The cannulas consisted of two needles; the outer one was 0.6 mm in diameter and the inner was 0.3 mm and fitted tightly inside. The inner needle could screw into the outer one, the tips of both cannulas reaching the same level. The double-walled cannula was implanted, under ether anesthesia, into the third ventricle through a hole drilled in the skull by means of a stereotaxic instrument. The cannulas were implanted in the midline at the level of 7.0-7.4 AP coordinates of de Groot’s atlas (5) and lowered to the level of+ 0.5-1.5. They were fixed to the skull with dental cement and the skin was sutured.
