This paper records preliminary results from archaeological investigations of three sites on the island of Vanua Levu, Fiji. Two are coastal. One which produced Lapita pottery with features such as carination, notches and dentate stamping is four km inland. All have yielded unusual phallus-shaped vertical handles which may be contemporary with the Lapita pottery. Other discoveries include two highly-polished basalt adzes and an oval pottery disk.
