THE present-day prominence of sterols containing different kinds of double bond configurations has increased the impor-tance of both the qualitative and quantitative analysis of these compounds. The chemistry of the 6 unsaturated sterols have been thoroughly investigated (S, 3) and up tothis time there have been a few main reactions commonly used to develop colors from which the quantity of the sterols may be determined (1, 5, 6, 10).
