A novel 0.01%Pt-0.02%Pd/stainless steel catalyst was prepared by using stainless steel as support and pretreatment via an anodic oxidation process. The total oxidation temperature over the prepared catalyst toward toluene was achieved at 210 degrees C as the catalyst was calcined at 1000 degrees C. The results indicate that the design of anodic oxidation process in the support preparation was quite effective in increase of catalytic activity. In special, the stainless steel support has proven to be effective for preventing the catalyst deactivation after high temperature calcination. In addition, the stability test on the catalyst was also investigated. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
