Temperature values are critical in high-speed machining of titanium alloys and define the machinability of this thermally dominant process. A comprehensive description of previous research is prescribed. The paper suggests some analytical methods for temperature calculations, which are used to evaluate the influence of a variation in the process parameters on the temperature generated. Experimental data for a possible validation is incorporated. The high-speed machining of titanium alloys could therefore be better understood through the presentation of both a new developed model able to provide comparable qualitative data predicting trends related to changes in process parameters and an experimental validation providing valuable insight for further research in high-speed machining of those alloys.
