Effects of a vertical magnetic field (maximum field, 4 T and 93 T 2 m -1 ) on chemical wave front propagation from the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction were studied. Applied magnetic fields strongly affected the downward propagation speed in a glass tube. The magnetic force acting on the inhomogeneous solution explains the results.
